Different group options have different requirements on group size and age.

Help Prepare Meals

Our most popular volunteering options are in our kitchen. With your help -- no family goes hungry at our Houses.

Breakfast (7am-9:30am)

  • Volunteers plan the menu and bring in necessary ingredients for volunteer opportunity. 
  • All volunteers over the age of 18 must bring their driver’s license or passport to check into Centegix.
  • 7:00-9:30am commitment- Breakfast served at 8:00am. 
  • You may have a maximum of 10 volunteers at our House near Scottish Rite and 12 at our House near Arthur M. Blank Hospital per meal group. 
  • All volunteers must be 14 years or older and accompanied by an adult chaperone if under 18 years old. All children must stay in the kitchen with an adult at all times. 
  • Each group will be asked to wear masks and gloves during the duration of their volunteering. 
  • All food must be prepared onsite in our kitchen unless purchased from a commercial kitchen establishment such as a restaurant, caterer, or deli. 
  • The kitchen is stocked with pots and pans, baking sheets, mixing bowls, measuring cups, cutting boards, cooking utensils, etc. There are 4 ovens and stove ranges available for use.
  • Groups must remain in the designated volunteer area on the first floor. Unless escorted by a staff member, volunteers are not permitted upstairs. 
  • Plates, silverware, and glasses are provided. However, we encourage bringing paper products for easier clean up. 
  • When packing up the excess food at the end of your meal service, all food must be placed into individual to-go containers. Please plan on bringing to-go boxes with you to pack up your leftovers. We recommend bringing containers best suited for the food you plan on serving. Preferred containers are listed on our Amazon Wish List. The leftovers will be placed in our family refrigerators for guests to access after the meal is over. 
  • Please be prepared to serve around 40-50 people. Occupancy fluctuates daily. 
  • Clean up begins around 45 minutes after serving time.

* In the event your group must cancel within 72 hours of your scheduled meal, we would appreciate a donation to help cover the cost of catering the meal for our families.

Brunch: (Saturday & Sunday, 9 am-12 noon)  

  • Volunteers plan menu and bring in the necessary ingredients for volunteer opportunity.  
  • All volunteers over the age of 18 must bring their driver’s license or passport to check into Centegix. 
  • 9:00am -12 noon commitment. Brunch is served at 10:30 am. 
  • You may have a maximum of 10 volunteers at the House near Scottish Rite and 12 at the House near Arthur M. Blank Hospital per meal group. 
  • All volunteers must be 14 years and older and accompanied by an adult chaperone if under 18 years old. All children must stay in the kitchen with an adult at all times.

10am-12noon.  Make casseroles, bake sweet treats and savory snacks for the families to enjoy during the week.

All groups must provide all the necessary ingredients for their volunteer event.

2-3 batches of different goodies, or 2-4 casseroles is appreciated.

You may have a maximum of 10 volunteers at our House near Scottish Rite and 12 at our House near Arthur M. Blank Hospital. This rule is in place to protect our families and their situation.

All volunteers must be 14 years and older and accompanied by an adult chaperone if under 18 years old. All children volunteering must stay with their adult chaperones at all times.

Nightly Dinners: (4pm-7:30pm) Meal donors provide nutritious dinners for families staying at our Ronald McDonald House.

  • Volunteers plan the menu and bring in the necessary ingredients for volunteer opportunity.  
  • All volunteer groups must share their menu one week prior to their service date. 
  • All volunteers over the age of 18 must bring their driver’s license or passport to check into Centegix.  
  • All volunteers must abide by kitchen safety guidelines during the scheduled meal volunteer shift. You and your group are strongly encouraged to review our food safety guidelines upon arrival. 
  • 4:00pm – 7:30pm time commitment: Dinner should be ready for families at 6pm. 
  • You may have a maximum of 12 volunteers per meal group.  
  • All volunteers must be 14 years and older and accompanied by an adult chaperone if under 18 years old. All children must stay in the kitchen with an adult at all times. 
  • Each group will be asked to wear masks and gloves during the duration of their volunteering. 
  • All food must be prepared on-site in our kitchen unless purchased from a commercial kitchen establishment such as a restaurant, caterer, or deli.

Our Chef-Led Meal Experiences allow groups to prepare and serve meals to our families with ease. Chef Jeff and Chef Cory will plan a well-balanced menu, provide all necessary ingredients and guide you through preparing the meal itself.

To participate, groups make a $400 donation to support our meal program, which covers the cost of dinner and culinary experience while volunteering.

  • Dates Available: Monday-Friday
  • Location and number of Volunteers: Ronald McDonald House near Egleston, up to 12 volunteers
  • Location and number of Volunteers: Ronald McDonald House near Scottish Rite, up to 1o volunteers
  • Meal: Dinner
  • Arrival Time: 2 p.m.
  • Prep Time: 2 to 4:30 p.m.
  • Clean-Up Time: 4:30 to 5 p.m.

Host an Evening Activity

From 6:30 pm to 8 pm – Monday – Friday

Host an activity and brings some fun to the Houses.

Activities may include:

  • Arts & crafts
  • Performance of music, dances, and/or plays
  • Manicure night
  • Flower arranging
  • Game night
  • Bingo night with prizes (Can be provided at the House)
  • Healthy living activities

 

We are also open to new, exciting ideas!

  • You may have a maximum of 6 volunteers per opportunity. 
  • All groups must provide all the necessary supplies for their volunteer event.
  • All volunteers must be 11 years and older and accompanied by an adult chaperone if under 18 years old. All children must stay with their adult chaperone at all times.
  • You will have male and female participants of all different ages and ability levels. The parents also like to participate.

 

*Due to the nature of our House and family situations, our occupancy fluctuates daily. We can have anywhere from 5-25 participants on any given night.
