To stay at one of our Ronald McDonald Houses, families must have a child (up to age 21) who is receiving medical care at an Atlanta-area hospital or medical center. Although families are asked to make a donation of $20 per night, no family is ever turned away due to inability to contribute.
Due to the high demand for our services and occupancy restrictions, our accommodations can only be offered to those family members involved in the daily care of the patient. All guest rooms are limited to four individuals.
All families who wish to stay with us are required to have a room referral and pass a background check. Referrals can only be made through a social worker at the hospital where the patient is being treated. Once the referral has been processed and approved, one of our staff members will contact you with instructions on how to complete the online background check. After the background check results have been processed, a staff member will contact you to discuss room availability. Please note that completing this process does not guarantee you and your family a room.
For additional questions regarding how to stay, please contact a manager on duty:

No one is required to pay to stay at the Atlanta Ronald McDonald Houses. We families to be able to focus on the health and well-being of their children and not worry about the cost of their living expenses. Some guests make donations to Atlanta RMHC when they check out, but most stay completely for free.
On average, guests stay for 8 nights at the House. Stays can range from one night to several months, and sometimes even last a year or more.
As long as the child is still receiving treatment, there is no limit on how long families can stay.
The Houses offer a private room, with two queen size beds and a private bathroom. Community spaces include kitchens, a stocked pantry, laundry rooms, activity rooms, play rooms, family lounges, and arts and crafts rooms.
Services we provide include, but are not limited to, cleaning supplies, toiletries, snack packs, welcome bags, home cooked meals, free parking, Wi-Fi, towels, blankets, and other linens, as well as washer and dryer machines with complimentary laundry detergent.
Limited shuttle service is provided to and from our local hospitals. Some other additional transportation is available such as trips to the grocery store.
You can support Atlanta RMHC by donating and volunteering! Without individual and group donations, we would be unable to provide the services that help so many families. Likewise, our volunteers are the heart and soul of the House, and the reason we are able to operate on a day to day basis with such a small staff. Please check out the “Get Involved” and “Donate” tabs in the top menu bar to learn more about how you can become a supporter.
If both Houses are full, we may be able to host your family in a local, partner hotel, depending on availability and resources.
Yes! For many families, the healthcare process is a journey requiring multiple trips to Atlanta. Once you have been cleared to stay with us, through the app you can submit a request for another stay.
Parents don’t know when their children will need medical help. But they should know they can always access the care they need. And with your help, we can support them all throughout their journey.
