With Gratitude from the Floyd Family

The Floyd family was eagerly awaiting the arrival of their precious baby girl when they received devastating news: their daughter had a rare congenital heart condition. Doctors diagnosed baby Arianna with Ebstein’s anomaly, a serious heart valve defect that can lead to an enlarged heart, irregular heartbeat, and even heart failure.

Cynthia, Arianna’s mom, recalled, “The doctors informed us that as soon as Arianna was born, she would need immediate medical attention.”

Arianna was delivered by C-section and was immediately transferred to the hospital for specialized care. Just three days after her birth, she underwent her first open-heart surgery, followed by another shortly after. Amid her recovery, the Floyd family faced a terrifying setback. Arianna’s heart stopped for 54 minutes, placing her on life support for 16 days. Against all odds, she pulled through. Their strength in the face of such immense challenges is nothing short of miraculous.

Throughout this journey, Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities (Atlanta RMHC) became a lifeline for the Floyd family. “The Houses welcomed us with open arms,” Cynthia shared. “They made an incredibly tough time more manageable.”

Staying at Atlanta RMHC allowed the Floyds to be by Arianna’s side every step of the way. Rather than worrying about hotels or making the four-hour drive from their hometown, they could focus completely on supporting their newborn daughter.

“The House provides us with everything we need—kitchen and laundry facilities, home-cooked meals from the Chef, and even a playroom for our two-year-old,” Cynthia said. “It’s warm, cozy, and safe—a true comfort during such a scary time.”

One of the greatest gifts Atlanta RMHC offers is connection. The Floyd family found strength and solidarity in friendships with other families facing similar challenges, a reminder that they are not alone on this journey.

Arianna still has two more open-heart surgeries ahead. The Floyds know they will return to Atlanta RMHC for continued support during her future hospitalizations.

“Thank you, Atlanta Ronald McDonald Houses!” Cynthia said. “Your support and kindness have made an unforgettable difference in our lives. We are forever grateful.”

Atlanta RMHC is honored to support families like the Floyds and will continue to be a part of their story.
